My Bio

I have been a photographer at heart since joining the school camera club, but life, love, and marriage took precedence and reduced me to window shopping. Latter on I bought a Nikon D40. I hadn’t a clue about Digital; I made errors. I learned by studying and practising. At 66, I retired and made Photography my hobby, my full-time occupation.in 2016, I won the first prize in a local challenge cup competition. Encouraged by this, I went on to win a place in a national competition and won a holiday in Turkey.

In 2017, I had the opportunity to open my own studio and built a good reputation for having pleasing portfolios for students, budding actors, models, and those who wanted to improve their portfolios. Sadly, when the pandemic and lockdown came, I was forced to close the studio in December 2019,

So I had to reassess which direction my photography was to go, and in 2021, I took my portfolio to a leading magazine journalist for appraisal. “She said the work was very good but not commercial,” l so I had a rethink, and decided to go to college and study photography in depth. I was awarded a BTCC photography Diploma, and in 2022, a BTCC Advanced Diploma in photography. I used the last few years to improve my understanding of the art of photography. This has opened a new way of thinking about photography and an interest in analogue photography. I now shoot in both digital full frame, 35mm and 120 mm film 🎞 I have a darkroom to do all my own film-developing.

I know what drives me, what motivates me, what excites me to jump out of bed in the morning, is that I love to create. I love locking onto an idea and bringing it to life. I love bringing joy to other people, making them laugh and smile. Taking an idea and making it a reality. That’s what drives me
